I have worked in IT for more than 12 years and held an active interest in programming and development for longer. My first experience of IT from a career perspective was at Woolworths Head Office, when, frustrated with the quality and functionality of the IT systems available to perform stock distribution and merchandising functions I was able to gain a position within the IT department.

Leveraging my existing Visual Basic knowledge I was able to make a significant contribution from day one, working with colleagues in Business departments on a variety of in-house systems including a Space Planning system subsequently used to maximise profit through effective allocation.

I was headhunted and recruited by the owner of an emergent New Media and technology company "Level Five Solutions" to join as a Technical Architect overseeing and performing the development of entirely web based applications at the forefront of then current technology using ASP, SQL Server and VB6/COM.

Later, I applied to and was successful in gaining a position within Tesco.com, at the time one of the few genuinely profitable eCommerce operations and certainly the pioneers of grocery home delivery in the UK. I worked on a variety of systems including an active fraud prevention system and a parallel user interface for the visually impaired before then moving to form my own Company serving a loyal base of Clients I had built.

The Company grew over the period of four years doubling turnover within the first year and in 2006 I sold the Business to a former colleague from Tesco.com who had also moved to form his own successful Business. I continued to perform development and consultancy for my former Company for one year, working on a diverse variety of Projects using ASP VBScript, ASP.NET C# and SQL Server. I architected and built the e-commerce model which powered and continues to power a range of eCommerce websites selling products as varied as computer parts and accessories, performance car parts and club memberships.

Since then I have worked with a company with extensive experience in EPoS solutions to provide development capability in-house to develop an outstanding and comprehensive retail solution with a fully synchronised back-office and e-commerce capability. My time spent in Retail Management, retail Head Office merchandising and working with an EPoS/e-commerce specialist has equipped me with thorough knowledge of all aspects of physical retailing and electronic commerce, both B2B and B2C.
